Mold Damage – Cutler Bay Home

Mold damage at this Cutler Bay home resulted from the drain line from the washing machine backing up repeatedly. The backups were minor, so the drywall wicked up the water remaining unnoticed for quite some time. The combination of moisture and darkness behind the appliances proved to be the perfect conditions for the development of mold growth. We took the washer and dryer out of the room and cleaned the drain. We then built a containment area to prevent mold spores from traveling throughout the house. Then we cut some damaged drywall from the wall to allow us to remediate the water damage and mold damage that was behind the wall. We set up industrial air movers and dehumidifiers to aid in the drying process and cleaned the drywall using SERVPRO products. Finally, we treated the affected areas with an antimicrobial substance which will deter the development of mold growth in the future.
