Dealing with Mold Damage at Three Lakes? Let SERVPRO Assist!

When it comes to stopping mold from growing or even getting started, a good inspection makes the difference between ineffectual work and a thorough servicing of your home. The restoration crew you hire has to know exactly what they are walking into and what they need to bring with them.

SERVPRO has decades of experience when it comes to stopping and removing mold damage in Three Lakes homes and across Florida. Our technicians and inspectors are fully trained to the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning, and Restoration Certification (IICRC) industry standards. They will arrive quickly and begin the inspection once their boots hit the ground. To keep you part of the process and to stay informed, our inspector starts with these questions:

First - Is there any visible mold? In which rooms can you see it?
Second - Have you smelled a strong, musty odor? If you have, where is it the strongest?
Third - Have you had a previous mold problem, regardless of the size or if you cleaned it yourself?
Fourth - Have you had recent water damage?
Fifth - Is there any mold around your heating and air vents?

If you answered yes to even one of these questions, the inspector will begin. In addition to a visual check, he will also use air quality meters to determine the mold content in each room, hallway, and other parts of your home. Even if we cannot see the mold, we can still determine where it is located and how far it has spread.

With the contaminated area identified, our SERVPRO technicians isolate it in order to prevent mold from spreading further. Containment is established using plastic sheeting to prevent air movement, and the response team also seals the vents of the HVAC system to prevent spreading through the ductwork.

Now, a system of air movers and exhaust fans are set up to blow loose spores out of your home as we begin cleaning procedures. This is negative air pressure, and it is very successful in keeping the unaffected areas of your home clean as we work.

With that established, technicians begin using anti-bacterial cleaners and anti-fungal chemicals to destroy the mold spores. Anti-fungal foggers are very useful in getting into crawl spaces and behind walls where other methods of cleaning are either ineffective or require demolition of a wall, floor, or ceiling.

If it is necessary to remove drywall or other building material, team members will demolish every piece that cannot be restored and dispose of it according to local and state regulations. In some cases, we may recommend demolition to make certain we clean every surface possible of mold spores.
